Sandra Jeanne Hedrick's Obituary
Sandra Jeanne Hedrick, 83, of Decatur, IL, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully with her daughter by her side at 3:47 A.M. on Tuesday (01-02-2024) at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Sandie was born on January 12, 1940, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Larue Darwin Kane and Mary Kaye (Green) Kane. She married Richard James Hedrick on June 6, 1964, in Springfield, IL. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2020. She was a devoted wife and mother.
She had a lifelong passion for sewing, creating hundreds of beautiful things over the years, dozens of which won blue ribbons at the County and State Fairs. From outfits for her young daughter, long ago, to selling doll clothing and in recent years, making embroidered sweatshirts with elaborate designs.
Sandie took great pleasure in cultivating flowers, even cross breeding her own varieties. Roses were her favorite, of which she had many.
She is survived by her daughter Renee Lynne Hedrick of Decatur, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
Sandie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She loved animals but especially dogs. At a time when all our shelters are overcrowded, please consider donating to Decatur and Macon County Animal Shelter Foundation, Second Chance for Pets Adoption Inc., or Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County in her honor.
Private family services will be held at the Pieta Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery Decatur, Illinois.
