Sara Ruth Brown's Obituary
Decatur- Sara Ruth Brown, 93, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014 at McKinley Court in Decatur.
Ruth was born August 15, 1921in Norris City, Illinois, the daughter of Leo and Bertha (Bishop) Poole. She retired from Taylor Pharmaceutical in 1984. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed Illini basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals. She married James Frederick Brown November 1, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death September 4, 1989.
Ruth leaves behind her son Terry (Kay) Brown, daughter Nancy (Rick) Anderson, daughter-in-law Mary Lou Brown Nolan, sisters Roberta Larkins, Jo DeVore, Sue Moon, Dorothy Sanders, and Georgia Dixon, seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Ruth was reunited in Heaven with her parents, husband, son Donald Brown, four brothers, and one sister.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at McKinley Court for all of their loving care.
Services to celebrate Ruth’s life will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.
