Sarah Barr's Obituary
Sarah Barr, 90, of Roswell, New Mexico, formerly of Decatur, passed away, Thursday, June 23, 2016 in Eastern New Mexico Medical Center.
Sarah was born on October 17, 1925, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of George and Florence Bastob. Sarah spent her years working as an executive secretary. She was a long time member of the American Legion, for 30 years, in Decatur, IL. Going with her husband, Walter J. Barr, to gun shows was a favorite pastime of Sarah’s. Shopping and reading were two hobbies Sarah dearly loved.
Sarah is preceded in death by her husband, Walter J Barr; parents, George and Florence Bastob; brother, George Bastob; sister, Barbara Gandy; niece, Melissa Gandy; and grand-daughter, Kristen Barr.
Sarah is survived by her son, Walter G and wife, Joni Barr; brother, John Bastob; sisters, Florence Jensen and Linda Hutson; grand-daughters: Laine, Shannon, and Fallon; great-granddaughters, Kinley and Adelynne. Many other nieces and nephews remain to cherish her memory.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, with Rev. Richard Weltin, celebrant. A vigil prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by visitation from 10 a.m. to 11a.m. Burial will be concluded in Graceland Cemetery.
