Sarah Neal Woodland's Obituary
Our beloved family matriarch, Sarah Neal Woodland blessed her family with a legacy spanning 87 years. While in the comfort of her home and surrounded by the love of her family, she received her angelic wings on December 7, 2020.
Sarah was born March 21, 1933, in Stanton, TN, the daughter of Andrew and Nancy (Hayes) Craig. In 1973 she relocated her family to Decatur, IL.
Sarah had a profound love of God, loved studying the bible and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Her loving spirit and amazing smile had the ability to fill one's heart with great happiness, joy and triumphant. Her presence will be greatly missed by all.
She enjoyed playing table games, gardening, rummaging and was a talented quilter, but spending time with her family and friends was what she enjoyed the most.
Sarah leaves to cherish her loving memories: children, Nancy D. Walker of Brownsville, TN, Walter E. Woodland (Gwendolyn), Patsy Woodland, Charlene Woodland, Doris Woodland-Rowan, Carolyn Woodland, Cynthia Woodland, Fatima Woodland, Gaston Woodland and Eric Woodland all of Decatur, IL; God-daughter Kathy Morris of Decatur, IL; brother, Wilbert Craig of Covington, TN; special niece Melba Johnson Witherspoon of Atlanta, GA; 46 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Buford Woodland and Lawrence E. Woodland; daughter, Mattie P. Thomas; sisters, Anna L. Johnson, Lonnie M. Richardson, and Frances Craig; brothers, Charlie Craig, John H. Craig, James Craig, Andrew Craig, Jr. Osia Craig, and Sammy Cody Craig. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home and graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 1:30 pm.
The family would like to thank Charlene Woodland and Latisha Woodland (great granddaughter) along with the nursing staff of Harbor Light Hospice for their unwavering care and support.
The Graceland Fairlawn funeral home has been entrusted with the care of Sarah.
