Shannon Eugene Borntreger's Obituary
Shannon Eugene Borntreger, 54, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away April 21, 2025, in his home.
Shannon was born in Decatur on March 5, 1971, the son of Mose and Kathy (Strachan) Borntreger. As a youth, he enjoyed basketball, fishing, and playing with remote control cars. Following a life-changing accident in his 20s, his mobility was limited, preventing him from participating in many of the activities he had enjoyed when he was younger.
Shannon is survived by his mother Kathy Kauzlarich of Decatur; sister Michelle (James) Gillespie of Decatur; stepsisters Linda Kauzlarich and Diana Kauzlarich; nieces Megan (Ryland) BeDell and Marshawna Jackson; and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and stepfather Walter Kauzlarich.
Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home is providing cremation services for Shannon. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Central Christian Church in Decatur. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
