Sherri Kay Grimes' Obituary
Sherri Kay Grimes, 55, passed away with her family at her side on Saturday, August 9, 2014.
She was born to Eugene and Shirley Burrous on October 5, 1958. Sherri was a veteran of the United States Army having served three years where she met her loving husband Thomas Grimes. They were married on August 18, 1979. She worked as the safety administrator at Wagners Castings for many years and for the last five has been with Voestalpine Nortrak as a safety administrator.
Sherri was fun-loving and free-spirited. She had many friends and family who loved her very much and who she loved spending time with. She was a remarkable wife and mother. She loved golfing with her husband and children and with her friends. She was an avid gardener and loved her flowers. She loved fishing with her dad. She was an outstanding baker and everyone loved her cakes and treats. She especially loved playing with her only grandbaby Josie who will miss her Mimi. Heather promises Mimi that Josie will know how awesome her Mimi was.
Sherri is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Grimes; her children Heather Grimes (Larry Goetz) and Emitt (Kaitie) Grimes; her father Gene Burrous; her sister Tammy Bryant and family; her brother Ron Burrous and family; her brother Scott Burrous and family; and one very special granddaughter Josie Ava Goetz.
She was preceded in death by her mother Shirley Burrous and stepmother Francie Burrous.
Her family would like to thank her employer Voestalpine Nortak and Sliderz Bar and Grill for their compassion and generosity. We would also like to thank the 5100 nursing team at DMH for all their kindness and help through this very difficult time. These women were all amazing.
Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her, “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” NIV: Proverbs: 31: 28-29.
Visitation to celebrate Sherri’s life will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2014 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home.
