Shirley Ann Bridge's Obituary
Shirley Ann Bridge, 88, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025, in Mt. Zion, IL. Shirley was born on May 16, 1937, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Arthur Milley and Clossie May (Clutts) Beggs.
Shirley married her beloved husband, Samuel Edmund Bridge, Jr., in Decatur, IL; he preceded her in death on February 23, 2001. Shirley worked for many years as an accounting clerk at Huston Patterson Printing where she worked alongside her daughter, Cheryl, before her retirement. Shirley was an avid collector, especially of dolls and Depression glass. She frequented garage sales and rummage sales to find these treasures. When she wasn’t collecting, Shirley loved to spend time with her family, especially her beloved grandkids.
Shirley is survived by her children — Cheryl (Roger) Chaney and Scott (Anita) Bridge; sisters — Lona (Bill) Stuckey and Julia (Larry) Lanter; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and other friends and family.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband — Samuel Edmund Bridge, Jr.; parents — Arthur and Clossie Beggs; son — Mark Allen Bridge; two great-grandchildren; four brothers; and three sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home in Decatur, followed by a committal service at Macon County Memorial Park. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
