Shirley McClain's Obituary
Shirley McClain, 83, of Decatur, IL passed away June 9, 2019 at Fair Havens Christian Village.
Shirley was born April 4, 1936 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Houston and Ruby (Lawrence) Hirst. She married Buford McClain during 1976 in South Carolina.
Shirley was a graduate of Richland Community College and earned an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts. She operated her own cleaning business for many years.
She was a member of Maranatha Assembly of God and did sing in the choir. She enjoyed feeding birds and was an avid reader, especially the Bible. More than anything she loved spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Bob Gilman (Cheri) of Decatur, IL, Dean Gilman (Becky) of Decatur, IL, Connie Gilman (Todd) of Decatur, IL, Robin Streight (Tim) of Decatur, IL, Gene McClain (Kellie) of Val Rico, FL; brother, Monte, Hirst of Pompano Beach, FL; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford McClain; parents; sons, Dan R. Gilman, Steve Gilman, Terry Gilman; daughter, Debra Stubbs; brothers, Pete and Albert and sister Marita.
A Memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Maranatha Assembly of God. Cremation service will be provided by Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home.
