Shirley A. Petrone's Obituary
Decatur-Shirley A. Petrone, 75, of Decatur, formerly of Calumet City, Illinois, beloved wife and mother passed away Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Decatur Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
Mass of the Resurrection will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 3850 Lourdes Dr. Decatur, with Father Rick Weltin Celebrant. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Entombment will be in Mary Queen of Angels at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation or the American Lung Association. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with these arrangements. Shirley was born October 2, 1934 in Hammond, Indiana, the daughter of Walter and Rose (Jurecki) Worosz. She had worked as a secretary for the U.S. Army in Chicago and as a cashier for the Decatur Public School District. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Shirley was an avid reader, enjoyed shopping, traveling, and chatting on the computer with others that have scleroderma. She married Donald Petrone August 26, 1962.
She leaves behind Donald, her beloved husband of over forty-seven years, daughter; Donna of Decatur, son; Daniel and wife Teressa of Smyrna, Tennessee, brother and sister-in-law Tom and Shirlene of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, special aunt Pearl of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and many relatives from southern California and Hammond, Indiana.
She was greeted in heaven by her parents.
