Shirley Schoepfer's Obituary
Shirley C. Schoepfer, 93, of Decatur, IL, died on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Shirley was born December 23, 1931 in Chicago, IL, daughter of Harry and Florence (Mavor) Dombrowski. She graduated from Austin High School, Chicago, IL.
Shirley married Arthur E. Schoepfer in 1953. They lived in Niagara Falls, NY, before settling in Decatur, IL in 1960. There, they would live for the next 65 years and raise their family. Shirley was active with the YWCA for many years and was a Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and golf.
Shirley and Art enjoyed vacationing and golfing in Hilton Head, South Carolina. They were longtime members of South Side Country Club since 1980. Shirley was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church since moving to Decatur in 1960. Shirley most enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, gathering for many birthday celebrations, holidays, dance recitals, and sporting events.
Shirley's family would like to express their gratitude to the special ladies who loved and cared for her daily.
Survivors include: children, Susan March of Rockford, IL, Cheryl (Larry) Mueller of Decatur, IL, Nancy (Michael) Handley of Springfield, IL; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
Shirley’s husband Arthur preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be held privately at a later date.
