DECATUR- Shirley L. Spain, 74 of Decatur, passed away at 9:06 AM Sunday, May 16, 2010 in Heartland of Decatur, with her family by her side.
Services to celebrate Shirley's life will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, May 19, 2010 in the chapel of Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor Bob Hoover. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Interment with the 'Flight Home' Ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Shirley was born on July 3, 1935 in Decatur a daughter of Emmett and Mildred (McQuality) Seitz. She had been the activity director for Lakeshore Manor and drove a school bus for Decatur Public School and the Mt. Zion School district for over thirty years. Shirley loved to go to the River Boat and enjoyed playing bingo. She married Marshal L. Spain on March 3, 1967 in Decatur. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1988.
She leaves behind a loving family including her daughter- Diana Leigh Hayes and her husband Scott of Decatur and their children- Daniel Lawrence, Bobbi Newberry and Kelsi Hayes, step son- Steve Spain and his family of Ohio, sister- Phyllis Kunzeman of Decatur, brother-in-laws- Glenn Spain and wife Vivian and Richard Spain and wife Barbara all of Decatur, five great grandchildren and several step- great-grandchildren.
She was greeted in Heaven by her parents, husband and one daughter- Kimberly Eilene 'Sissy' Leigh.
