Shirley Ann Telfer's Obituary
Shirley Ann Telfer, 87, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away December 13, 2024, at Hickory Point Christian Village.
Shirley was born in Decatur on April 23, 1937, the daughter of Herbert and Emma (Redenius) Fair. She married Gene A. Telfer on August 28, 1954, and they enjoyed nearly 70 years of marriage until his death in March of 2024.
Shirley was an LPN for many years at Americana Nursing Home (later Manor Care). She was devoted to her family and loved to care for them. She also enjoyed cooking, cleaning, and serving. Nothing was as precious to her as the time she spent with her grandchildren. When she had some free time, she enjoyed reading, camping, and spending time outdoors.
Shirley is survived by her children Terry Telfer of Mililani, HI, and Trenda Rowland of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Blake (Carissa) Rowland of Decatur, IL, Brock (Veronika) Rowland of Decatur, IL and Blaze (Rylee) Rowland of Decatur, IL; great-grandchildren Valerian and Forrest; and many nieces and nephews, including special niece Debbie Trotter. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Tonya Telfer, and sister Avis Grizzle.
Funeral services for Shirley will be held on Monday, December 23, at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10am and will be followed by a funeral service at 11am. Burial in Graceland Cemetery will follow the service. Memorials may be directed to Alzheimers Association. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
