Sophia Joan Snead's Obituary
Decatur-Sophia Joan Snead, 78, of Decatur, died at 6:40 a.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010 at her home with her daughters by her side.
Mass of the Resurrection to celebrate Sophia's life will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 3850 Lourdes Dr., with Father Rick Weltin Celebrant. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes. Interment with 'Flight Home' Ceremony will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with these arrangements. Sophia was born September 4, 1932 in Decatur, the daughter of Elmer and Sophia (Carroll) Coventry. She was previously employed for many years at A.E. Staley and Miller-O'Neill. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and a bridge group.
She leaves behind her daughters; Teri Miller and husband Dan of Decatur, Donna Easterling and husband Marty of Decatur, and Debbie Aspin and husband Gordon of Naperville, grandchildren; Sarah Mieher and husband Brian, Brian Miller, Andy Miller, Megan Easterling, Sophia Aspin, and David Aspin, great-grandson; Brock Mieher, brothers; John 'Jack' Coventry of Chillicothe, David Coventry and wife Cheryl of Decatur, and Mark Coventry and wife Kathy of St. Charles, MO, sister; Carole Doyle of San Diego, CA, many nieces and nephews, and extended family friends; Kathy Hatcher and Mary Coventry.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents, sister; Mary Francis Walker, and brother; Pat Coventry.
