Decatur-Stanley N. Rhodes, 61, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2010.
Services to celebrate Stan's life will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday May 19, 2010 at the funeral home. Interment with military honors and 'Flight Home' Ceremony will be in North Fork Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Stan was born December 1, 1948 in Decatur, the son of Joseph Dean and Nina Mae (Langston) Rhodes. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a graduate of Millikin University. He was employed as an accountant for Kopetz Manufacturing with over eleven years of service. Stan enjoyed cheering for the Illini and St. Louis Cardinals. He was an avid boater, hunter, and golfer. He enjoyed NASCAR attending races at Talladega and Bristol. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching old westerns.He married Marilyn (Weaver) Davis May 26, 2007.
He leaves behind his wife Marilyn, mother, Nina of Shelbyville, brother, David Rhodes and wife Susan of Decatur, stepsons; Dirk Anderson of Decatur and Dustin Anderson of Louisiana, stepdaughters; Lora Cook of Indiana and Gena Middleton of Argenta, step-grandchildren; Jonah, Kirsten, Oakley, and Jake, nieces; Emily Trumbold of Champaign and Rachel Melton of Decatur, nephew; Joshua Rhodes of Bloomington, great-niece; Morgan Melton, great-nephew; Jacob Melton, and several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Dean Rhodes and son, Jarrod Rhodes.
