Stephen Paul Baker's Obituary
Stephen Paul Baker, 73, of Decatur, IL., passed away on Thursday (10-14-2021) at 11:40 P.M. at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Manteno, IL.
Steve was born on June 14, 1948 in Frankfort, IN., the son of Ora L. Baker and Betty J. (Miller) Baker. He married Sherrie Thompson on June 15, 1985 in Frankfort, IN.
He worked as an Engineer for the Railroad for almost 40 years, retiring from the Union Pacific in 2009. Steve liked all sports and loved going to his grandkids sporting events. Steve also liked going to the lake with his friends and music was a big part of his life.
Steve is survived by his wife Sherrie of Decatur, IL; son: Shane Martin Baker and wife Elizabeth of St. Joseph, IL.; daughter: Breein Baker Suver and husband Damon of Crescent City, IL.; one brother: Gary Baker and wife Kathy of Bradley, IL.; one sister: Phyllis Baker of Frankfort, IN.; three grandchildren: Austin Baker and wife Lexi, Riley Baker, and Kaytlyn Baker, all of St. Joseph, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ora L. Baker and Betty J. Hall and her husband Joe.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday (10-22-2021) at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home Decatur, IL.; with visitation from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to: American Legion Post #105 Decatur, IL. or the Moose Lodge #7 Roof Fund, Frankfort, IN.
