Steven Herbert Stanley's Obituary
Steven Herbert Stanley, 74, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026, in Springfield, IL. Born on December 21, 1951, in Decatur, IL, the son of Wilbur Herbert and Mary Gertrude (Hood) Stanley.
Steven married his beloved wife, Carol (Marshall) Stanley, on August 20, 2005, in Decatur, IL. He worked at Wagner’s for over 42 years as well as ADM and Stratus, which he worked at for over 10 years. Steven attended church at Tabernacle Baptist Church. He enjoyed trains, bowling, cartoons, 60s and 70s music. Most of all, Steven loved spending time with his family, whether it was getting Papa Murphey’s pizza every Tuesday or Saturday morning breakfast.
Steven is survived by his wife, Carol Stanley of Decatur, IL; son, Steven Dwayne Stanley of Springhill, TN; daughters: Crystal Michelle Stanley of Decatur, IL, Linda Renee Stanley of Clinton, IL, and Jessica Joann (Matthew) Stanley-Dobbs of Decatur, IL; grandchildren: Stephanie Michelle Stanley, Christina R. Butler, Christopher Butler, Faith Renee Ahlers, Brylann Ahlers, Zaidan Ahlers, Steven D. Stanley, Dylan Stanley, Grace Lee Stanley, and Joanie Alaina Mae Dobbs; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Duane Stanley of Olney, IL; and sister, Sharon Lorraine Ewing of Mt. Zion, IL.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jacob Stanley; 5 brothers; and 2 sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is providing cremation services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
