Sue Ellen Followell's Obituary
Sue Ellen “Suey” Followell, 56, of Clinton, Illinois, passed away April 10, 2024, in her home.
Sue was born in Clinton on April 24, 1967, the daughter of Thomas and Charlene (Scogins) Followell. She married Richard Heiberg on January 15, 1984, and they had a close and loving relationship until his death in 2020. Suey worked as a cook in nursing homes, a career that gave her ample opportunity to share her generous, caring nature with others. She was a Christian woman who was the center of her family, drawing others toward her in love and affection. She had great skill in fishing, participating and even winning several tournaments. Her love of the outdoors was evident in her free-time activities, which included camping and coaching softball. She also enjoyed NASCAR racing, Bingo, playing slot machines, and sharing a good meal of Chinese food with her beloved family and friends.
Sue is survived by her children Amber Followell of Clinton and Richard Heiberg of Clinton; siblings Genita Followell and Thomas “Chopper” Followell; son-in-law Robert Reynolds; daughter-in-law Hannah Heiberg; grandchildren Malayna Reynolds, Baileysue McConnell, and Mya Heiberg; and great-grandchildren Legend Taylor, Rubyjean Taylor, and Opaletta Taylor. She was preceded in death by Richard Heiberg, her parents, daughter Hailey Heiberg, and grandson Xander Reynolds.
Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home is providing cremation services for Sue. A Celebration of Life hosted by the family will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday, April 24, at 104 E. Main Street, Heyworth, Illinois. A dinner will follow the celebration and will be held at 816 E. Adams Street, Clinton, Illinois, 61727. Memorials may be directed to DeWitt County ROSC Council (DWCRC).
