Tammy Jo McGeorge's Obituary
Tammy Jo McGeorge, 53, of Neoga, IL (formerly of Decatur), flew into the gates of Heaven Tuesday, January 19, 2016, with her family holding her hand.
Tammy was born January 16, 1963, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Richard B. and Judith (Sanders) Wood. Tammy graduated from Mt. Zion High School in 1981 where she was active in the Spanish Club and worked as a teacher’s aide for her Spanish Class. After high school, Tammy proudly served her country in the United States Army. Tammy later worked as a 911 Dispatcher in California and she was able to communicate in English, Spanish, and Russian. In her spare time, she loved reading and listening to old music.
Tammy leaves behind to cherish her memory a daughter, Sarah J. McGeorge of Salinas, CA; mother and stepfather, Judith and Ron Stinson of Madisonville, TX; sister, Michelle (Kent) Snyder of Decatur; brother, Stacy (Samantha) Stinson of Decatur; grandson, Julius Irons; her beloved cat, Chewy; stepbrothers and stepsisters; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her father, Richard B. Wood; grandparents, Bill and Helen Wood; Bessie Sanders; and Raymond Sanders.
Honoring Tammy’s wishes, cremation services will be provided by Graceland/Fairlawn Crematory. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
