Terry Lynn Babb's Obituary
Terry Lynn Babb, 55, of Decatur, passed away July 10, 2022 in Farmington, Missouri.
Terry was born in Decatur on September 18, 1966, the son of Robert L. and Mary Jane (Eichenauer) Babb. He graduated from Warrensburg/Latham High School in 1984 and went on to earn a B.S. in Engineering from Illinois State University. He most recently worked as a branch manager for Goedecke Construction Materials, where he was employed for over thirty years. He had a passion for racing dirt cars, a career that began in 1989. He was a member of Racers for Christ, USAC, and MOWA. Terry was an avid softball and basketball player who participated in leagues through church and the community. His greatest love was for his daughters, and he made it a priority to be a part of everything they did. He shared his athletic talent and skill by coaching his girls’ softball and basketball teams. He was a die-hard Cub fan. He married Sara DeCroix on June 20, 2015 in Decatur.
Terry is survived by his wife Sara; father Robert; children Erin (Tyler) Bright of Cerro Gordo, Jordan Babb of Decatur, and Tanner Babb of Michigan; stepdaughters Brittney (Justin) Both of Mt. Vernon, Iowa and Danielle DeCroix of Alexander, North Carolina; sister Gail Babb of Decatur; grandchildren Bentley Bright, Emma Both, and Claire Both; and extended family members, friends, and a large racing community.
Funeral services for Terry will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022 at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Decatur. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the funeral service begins at 12:00pm. Burial at Macon County Memorial Park will follow the service. Memorials may be directed to USAC Benevolent Foundation, The Helmet Walk Foundation, or Tabernacle Baptist Church, Decatur, Illinois.
