Terry Blankenship's Obituary
Terry Lynn Blankenship, 62, of Decatur, IL, passed away at Decatur Memorial Hospital at 11:27 P.M. on Tuesday (09-26-2023).
Terry was born on May 8, 1961, in Decatur, IL, the son of Charles Frederick Blankenship and Carol Ann (Cooley) Blankenship. He married Tresa Lynn Shewmake on June 19, 1999, in Decatur, IL. She survives.
Terry was a very proud Veteran and served his country in the United States Army during Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church Decatur, IL. Terry was also a truck driver for several years. He also loved camping, fishing, kayaking, golfing, and was an avid Chicago Cub’s fan and a Chicago Bear’s fan.
Terry is survived by his wife Tresa of Decatur, IL; two sons: Joshua D. Blankenship and wife Shayna of Hanna City, IL, and Jason L. Blankenship of East Peoria, IL; stepson: Timothy Cripe and wife Jill of Chatham, IL; stepdaughter: Savana N. Cripe and fiancé Shaun Thomas of Mt. Juliet, TN; eleven grandchildren; one brother: Larry Blankenship of Decatur, IL; two sisters: Lynette Hanson and husband Dean of Mattoon, IL, and Dawn Hedgpeth of Decatur, IL; mother: Carol Ann Cooley of Decatur, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles, stepmother Jean Blankenship and one sister Michele Blankenship.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday (10-04-2023) at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.
