Decatur – Thelma L. (Johnson) Green, 89, of Delta Colorado, formerly of Decatur, passed away at 4:20 am Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Willow Tree Care Center.
Graveside services to celebrate Thelma’s life will be held at 12 noon Friday, January 22, 2010 at Fairlawn Cemetery. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with these arrangements. Thelma was born January 2, 1921 in Mahomet, the daughter of John and Ida Belle (Duncan) Johnson. She married Samuel Green on May 20, 1939. They had 53 years together. She retired in 1983 from the Eldorado Apparel Manufacturing Co. and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She always found things to teach her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to sew, do crossword puzzles and read. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Flippin, Arkansas.
She leaves behind her one son: Leslie (Fran) Green of Delta, Colorado, one daughter-in-law Janet Green of Decatur, seven grandchildren: Karen (Bill) Schuerich, Mike Green, Diana Weltmer, Dawn (Ken) Eller, Debbie (Ron) Weaver, Dennis (Joy) Carter, and Dana (Gregg) Petri, fifteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. Special mention for Glenda Davis and niece and Jerry (Pam) Johnson a nephew, great grandchildren: Valerie, Amanda, Kiersten, Chelsea, Justin, Ashley, Zachary, Christina, Erika, James, Leigh, Andrew, Levi, Danielle, and Lexi, great-great grandchildren: Ethan, Reed, Devin, Baby Jake, Landon, Kalebb, Kimberly, Kaylee, and Desiree.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Ida Belle Johnson, husband, Sam, two brothers Kent and Ralph Johnson and two sisters Mary Franklin and Viola Brown.
