Thelma Smart's Obituary
Thelma Mae Smart, 86, resident of the Villas of Hollybrook in Savoy, and formerly of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 4:45 p.m. at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born February 23, 1933 in Pana, the daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth Buttgereit Kronshagen. She married Jack Smart, Sr. on January 6, 1952 in Decatur. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2011.
Thelma loved gardening, bird watching, and crocheting. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, as well as baking.
She is survived by four children, Terence Smart of Decatur; Timothy (Elaine) Smart of Tennessee; Peggy (Don) Stolz of Decatur; and Jack Jr. (Terri) Smart of Urbana; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. She is also survived by seven sisters.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a brother.
Cremation will be provided by Graceland/Fairlawn Cremation Center in Decatur. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 1st at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home in Decatur. Burial of her ashes will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
