Theodore Ray "Ted" Zindars' Obituary
Decatur-Theodore Ray 'Ted' Zindars, 76, of Decatur, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Amber Glen Alzheimer Special Care Center in Urbana.
Services to celebrate Ted's life will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 in the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Amber Glen Alzheimer Special Care Center or the Alzheimer's Association.
Ted was born August 3, 1936 at Mercy Hospital in Urbana, the son of Grant and Virginia (Kampschrader) Zindars. Ted grew up on farms in rural Bondville, Seymour, and Champaign. Being a farm boy, Ted was a member of Frog Pond 4-H Club and showed Berkshire Hogs and Polled Hereford Cattle at the Champaign County and Illinois State Fair. Ted was in Future Farmers of America all four years at Mahomet High School, graduating in 1954. He then attended the University of Illinois in the College of Agriculture for two years, before becoming a farmer in Champaign and Kankakee Counties. He married Karin (Witts) Fuiten November 25, 1970 in Decatur where they made their home. Ted ran the Clark Gas Station when he first came to Decatur, was a carpenter and Superintendent for Horve Builders, and owned/operated Zindars' Building Maintenance. He enjoyed camping, gardening, bowling, dancing, and attending state and county fairs.
He leaves behind his wife Karin, their daughter Tedra Zindars-Davis and husband Michael of Champaign, stepsons Kent Fuiten and wife Caryn of Decatur and Kenlie Fuiten and wife Kathie of Decatur, daughter Jonita Tyme of Streamwood, twin sons Ted Zindars and wife Kathy of Luck, WI and Tom Zindars and wife Jennifer of Dewey, mother Virginia Zindars of Bondville, sister Carol Ann Pointer and husband Roger of Champaign, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a niece, and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father and nephew and godson Scott Pointer.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Amber Glen Alzheimer Special Care Center for all of their loving care.
