Theresa Clotilde Couch's Obituary
Theresa Clotilde Couch, 96, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, with her devoted caregivers at her side.
Theresa was born in Decatur on July 10, 1929, the daughter of Jerome and Alberta (Meador) Heger. Theresa was one of 14 children. She graduated as valedictorian from St. Teresa High School in 1947. She then earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary of the Woods College. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Couch, on July 28, 1951, in Decatur.
Theresa’s life was filled with adventure and accomplishments. At a young age, she learned about business by helping her parents with their cabins and filling station. Theresa and Don went on to own their own business, The Four Seasons, located in Tuscola, Illinois. Theresa’s exquisite decorating skills, her elegant fashion sense, and her meticulous accounting made The Four Seasons a driving force in the retail industry.
Theresa was an outstanding seamstress, and many of her striking outfits were hand-sewn by her. She was also a highly skilled and accomplished pilot, owning several airplanes over the years. She had a huge love for animals and would feed them whenever she had the chance. She was an active member of the Decatur Country Club, where she enjoyed many of her days.
Theresa’s elegance, kindness, and generosity will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Theresa is survived by her nephew Kevin Oglesby and nieces Mary Ann Fleckenstein and Teresa Meinero. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and all her siblings.
Special thanks to her loyal and loving caregivers for all their years of service to Theresa and Don.
Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County or to the Champaign Humane Society in honor of her life-long love of animals.
