Thomas Patrick Stowell, 70, of Decatur, passed away June 19, 2021 at home. Thomas was born April 18, 1951, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Arthur Francis and Mildred Mabel (Werner) Stowell. He earned a BS in Psychology from Quinc Read Obituary
He was a very kind man that I knew from the Olive Garden and would love to have known otherwise. Very very sweet. RIP Tom.
I only knew Tom from being a customer at OG
I wish I would have taken more time to get to know him. He came across as being a very friendly person and from what I have gathered he was much more. R. I. P.
I was so saddened by Tom's sudden departure from us, as are so many. He was our daughter-in-law's (Tori's) dad. That's the only way I thought of him until March of 2020 when our family began meeting for dinner @ noon every Sunday, when everything shut down. Tom was also part of our Sunday dinner group, so I've come to think of him as part of our family. So, we've seen him every Sunday for well over a year, with few exceptions. While I'd be cooking or cleaning up the dishes, many times he would stand in the kitchen & we'd have a long conversation. During the meal, he always came back for seconds! We came to know him as a very kind, intelligent, thoughtful man, with a good sense of humor, who loved his daughters and granddaughter, especially. And, he was always very appreciative. We will miss his presence with us. I'm so thankful that we got to know him during this period of time and will miss him greatly.
I especially wish Tori and Kat strength during this time of grief and may the Lord comfort you and guide you as you navigate through all the details that will need to be handled. Love to the whole family.
Sorry to hear of thomas passing i knew him when firestone closed and he worked for wia/ides to help his fellow co workers from firestone get other employment very nice man sorry for your loss and condolences to all effected

Tom was my father-in-law, but he was much more than that to me. He was a friend, fellow musician, and lover of all things artistic. He had a high level of appreciation for all kinds of music. He was highly intelligent, but always humble. He was immediately accepting and supportive of my relationship with his daughter Tori (and for that I have always been most grateful). I couldn't have had a better second Dad.
He was a mentor and giver of sage-wisdom.. to anyone who needed it. He was kind, stoic, thoughtful, respectful, caring, consistent, quirky, fun, and humorous. I always enjoyed prodding him for stories from his past - about the music scene during his hey day and he always obliged. The best conversationalist around.
I'm so thankful for my time spent with him, but deeply wish I could have more... Tom will be sorely missed by so many. He has a beautiful soul and I will forever cherish every last memory that I have with him.
