Thomas Ray "Tom" Mullinax's Obituary
Decatur-Thomas Ray Mullinax, 56, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 in his son’s home in Chatham with his family by his side.
Tom was born July 12, 1957 in Decatur, the son of Cletus L. and Wilma R. (Stewart) Mullinax. He lived in Decatur all of his life, graduating from SDHS in 1975. He married Cathie Rose McGuire December 17, 1976 in Decatur. Born to this union was one son Sean Thomas Mullinax.
Tom was the last home delivery milkman in Decatur and remained a loyal employee for thirty-one years. He was the handyman to family and friends and affectionately known as “Fix It” Tom. He also had enthusiastic pet names for all of his family and loved ones. He enjoyed bowling, golf, and cooking, creating new recipes for family and friends to try and was famous for his gumbo.
Tom leaves to cherish fond memories his mother Wilma of Decatur, wife Cathie of Decatur, son Sean (Veronica) Mullinax of Chatham, precious granddaughter Mia, grandson Christian, and granddaughter to be baby Ella, brother Michael (Dawn) Mullinax of Macon, sisters Karen (Gary) Bachman of Mt. Zion and Shari Mullinax of Decatur, and several special nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Welcoming Tom to Heaven is his father Clete, his sister Suzanne Whicker, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Honoring Tom’s wishes cremation services will be provided by Graceland/Fairlawn Crematory. No services are planned at this time. There will be a gathering to honor Tom in the near future.
