Tom Cross' Obituary
Decatur – Lynn “Tom” Cross, 86, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2014, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Tom was born July 7, 1928, in Decatur, to Rolla Chester and Mabel Grace (Joynt) Cross. He married Shirley J. Bridgman on May 7, 1950 in Grace United Methodist Church in Decatur. He was an Equipment Engineer with Illinois Bell for 37 years. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers, Methodist Men, former Boy Scout Leader, an avid fisherman and active in the Imboden Garden Worship Service. Tom was always ready to lend a helping hand and was a good friend to many people.
He is survived by his wife; Shirley of Decatur; one son, Michael (Barbara) Cross of Schaumburg; three grandchildren, Jenni (Derek) Amel of South Elgin, Timothy(Stephanie) Cross of Chicago and Steven(Mollie) Cross of LeSeur, MN; four great-grandchildren, Alena, Olivia, Declan and Paige.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Melvin Cross and two sisters, Eleanor White and Jean Neuendorf.
Funeral service for Tom will be 12 noon Monday, October 13, 2014, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Graceland /Fairlawn Funeral Home and 11 a.m. to 12 noon Monday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery concluding with “Flight Home Ceremony.” Memorials may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church Economy Shop or TV Ministries.
