Tom A. Greenawalt's Obituary
Decatur-Tom A. Greenawalt, 77, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Tom was born July 22, 1938 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Paul and Ginny (Bartlemay) Greenawalt. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves. Tom was previously employed as an insurance agent with John Hancock. He loved spending time with his family and was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He married Nancy Stone March 17, 1961.
Tom leaves behind his wife Nancy of Decatur, children Mark Greenawalt (Brenda) of Decatur, Kim Goss (Rodney) of Sullivan, and Jenni Flesch (Scott) of Mt. Zion, brother Ted Greenawalt (Anita) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, grandchildren Rachael McRae (Matt), Sarah Ray (Austin), Chayse Greenawalt, Mylissa Greenawalt, Josh Goss (Lauren), Chance Goss, Kylie Goss, Aryn Cardwell (Dave), and Brooke Flesch, and great-grandchildren Aiden Flesch, Charlotte McRae, and Samuel McRae.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister Sally Greenawalt.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at DMH, St. John’s Hospital, and Vibra Hospital for all of their loving care.
Honoring Tom’s wishes cremation services will be provided. No services are planned at this time.
