Tommy L. Mears' Obituary
Decatur-Tommy L. Mears, 62, of Decatur, passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at Kirby Medical Center in Monticello.
Tommy was born July 26, 1952 in Decatur, the son of Kenneth “Cheyenne” and Vickie (Olsen) Mears. He was employed for over thirty three years in Monticello with Schrock’s, Horizon Home Center, and R.P. Lumber. He was a longtime, faithful member of Resurrection Life Church where he served as treasurer for over forty-two years and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Tommy enjoyed eclectic music, odd songs, reading, brain teasers, and Sudoku. He married Diane Spencer on November 16, 1974.
Tommy leaves behind his wife Diane of Decatur, son Luke Mears of Warrensburg, daughter Katie Mears of Decatur, grandsons Bryson Mears of Decatur and Jackson Powell of Warrensburg, sister Sally Miller of Tennessee, brothers Allen, Jim, Ted, and Eddie, and nieces and nephews.
Tommy was reunited in Heaven with his parents and sister.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Kirby Medical Center and to Tommy’s family in Monticello.
Services to celebrate Tommy’s life will be 1 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Greenwood officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2015 at the funeral home. Private family burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Resurrection Life Missions or to the wishes of the family in c/o Diane Mears.
