Trena Lee Briscoe's Obituary
Trena Lee Briscoe (Kozak) left this Earth on January 13, 2023. She was born October 18, 1957 to Donald and Melba Kozak. She was born and raised in Decatur, Illinois, but lived most of her life in Flora, Illinois. Trena was a graduate of St. Teresa High School in 1975. She had many friends and was a part of the theater program. She attended college at SIUE; graduating with a BS in medical sciences in 1979.
Trena spent the majority of her life caring for others. She worked at Marion County Horizon Center-Health Care Management Corporation supervising adult special-need facilities. She loved her clients and was dedicated to her job. She retired in 2013 but continued to be a guardian for many clients; it suited her servant heart.
Trena enjoyed traveling, camping and thrifting. She loved the outdoors and boating with her family. She was the life of the party. She planned many parties with her nieces and nephews. She loved to dance and sing. Her laugh was contagious and her smile lit up a room. She adored her dogs Laverne and Shirley. She was a dedicated mother to them.
Trena is survived by her two sisters, Kathy (Sidney) Duffer and Karen Mowry; her nieces Sarah (Brian) Bone, Ashley (Justin) Dunmire, Lauren Duffer; her nephews Jeremy McIntyre, Matthew (Kelsey) Duffer, and Carter Duffer; many great nieces and nephews; her best friend April Kirkpatrick; friend and neighbor Margaret Duke and good friends Tim and Barb Woolever. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Donald and Melba Kozak, her brother in law Chuck Mowry and infant nephew Michael Duffer.
Please join us in celebrating her life Sunday, January 29th, 3pm at First United Methodist, 103 East Third Street, Flora, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, local animal shelter or donors choice.
