Troy Merwyn Henson's Obituary
My father, Troy M. Henson, 86, left this earth on Wednesday Oct 1, 2014 to be in heaven with my Mother, his true love.
Dad was born on June 4th 1928 in Decatur, IL to Ollie and Lelah (Ekiss) Henson. He was the youngest of three boys. He quit school early and went to work at Firestone Tire, then later Pepsi Cola, and ended his career at Mueller and Company.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War during January 4, 1952 to December 16, 1953 building bridges and roads. He received a Korean Service Ribbon with three Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and a Merit Unit Citation.
He married the love of his life who was literally the girl next door, Roberta Jean English on June 4, 1952. She passed away on September 19, 2014.
After losing their 1st born child, Kenneth Eugene Henson, they adopted my sister, Sherry Kay Hall. Three 1/2 years later they adopted me, Gail Lea Alleman,
My sister and I blessed them with seven amazing grandchildren and five great-grandchildren which filled most of their retirement years.
Dad leaves behind myself and husband Dj Alleman; our children, Ryan (Sarah) Younker, Dustin (Angel) Studebaker, Dillon Studebaker, Brooke (John) Brill and Brittney Alleman; his granddaughter, Alexandra Hall; great- grandchildren, Zoe Studebaker, Rylee and Tyler Younker, Peyton and Paxton Brill and his friend and companion cat, Missy.
Dad was proceeded in death by his parents; cherished wife, Roberta; one son, Kenneth Eugene Henson; one daughter, Sherry K Hall; one granddaughter, Jamie Lea Gilstrap; one two brothers, Carl Henson and Lloyd Henson.
Services to celebrate Troy’s life will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
A special thank you to the staff at Mckinley Court and Symphony. The staff at symphony treated my family with such great care and respect. They made a very difficult time for my family a little easier to withstand.
