Twyla Mae Steiner's Obituary
LaPlace - Twyla Steiner, 76, passed away at her home in LaPlace, IL.
Twyla was born Sept 28, 1949, to John & Beaulah Steiner, the youngest of five children and one of 7 cousins born that year, fondly known as the ‘49ers. She graduated from Onarga High School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and in-laws, Marilyn (Thomas) Black, Marlyn (Myrna) Steiner & Ronald Steiner, one nephew Dean Steiner and by her life companions Jack and Larry.
Twyla attended a business school in Champaign and then worked for the State of Illinois in the Public Aid office for her entire career. She was also a sales representative for Avon & for Tri-Chem embroidery paints. In retirement she served as a clerk for Andy Black auctions. Twyla kept busy with her gardening, sending cards to many extended family members, and more so, with her crafting including crocheting afghans, hats and other items for families and friends and paint embroidery. She also maintained the Steiner Family genealogy books for many years. She was an avid fan of Illini sports.
She will be missed by her nieces and nephews: Andy (Cindy) Black, Lori (Dave) Hullinger, Toni Black, Becky Leydens and Cindy (Lonnie) Welch along with her many grand/great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 10 am until the service time of 11 am at the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will take place in St. John’s Cemetery, Buckley, IL.
