Vern and I entered service together on the Decatur Police Dept June 14th, 1965. We became fast friends for a number of years until I left DPD and life got in the way. Vern was one of a kind, probably the dryest sense of humor of any I ever knew. All of us who worked with Vern and knew him lives are better for Vern having walked through our lives. God Bless and be with Pat and his family. RIP old friend. We shall meet again one day.
I worked around and with Vern for over 20 years. He had a wonderful (dry) sense of humor that set him apart from others. I can never recall being around Vern when he wasn't able to put a smile on someone's face. I am certain Pat and his family will miss him dearly and I hope that they find comfort knowing that he is now safe with the Lord our God and is without pain forever. May God bless Vern's loved ones and may he rest in peace until the resurrection.
