Warrensburg-Vickie Lynn Smith, 65, of Warrensburg, passed on to her eternal Father at 12:25 am Friday, July 10, 2009 in Barnes – Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO, surrounded by her family.
Services to celebrate Vickie’s life will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Needham officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2009 at the funeral home. Interment with Flight Home Ceremony will be at Illini Cemetery in Warrensburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 4072 Pittsfield, MA 01202.

Vickie was born September 27, 1943 in Taylorville the daughter of Harland and Hilda (Rogers) Rhodes. She was employed by the Warrensburg-Latham School District #11 retiring with over thirty years of service. She was a member of the Church of the Bretheren in Decatur and enjoyed ceramics, fishing with her husband, and Mickey Mouse memorabilia.
She married Edward L. Smith June 29, 1962 at the Mound Chapel Church of God in Decatur. Vickie was a devoted Navy career wife that travelled to many duty stations with Edward.
She leaves behind Edward, her beloved husband of over forty-seven years, sons; Kendall W. Smith and wife Sabrina of Warrensburg, George J. Smith and wife Shari stationed with the U.S. Navy near Norfolk, VA, and Ronald C. Smith and wife Marla of Taylorville, grandchildren; Dalton with the U.S Army at Ft. Jackson, SC, Clinton and Roma of Warrensburg, Crystal and Savannah of Norfolk, VA, and Brittany, Tyler and Brandon of Taylorville, brother; Jesse “Tex” Rhodes, and sister; Debbie Benton.
She was reunited in heaven with her parents and sister, Diane Fite.
