Viola Marie Runyen's Obituary
Viola Marie Runyen, 95, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 7:29 A.M. on Friday (04-19-2024) in her home.
Viola was born on November 11, 1928, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Richard Elmer Hawkins and Wanetta Marie (White) Hawkins. She married Clarence F. “Ike” Runyen on August 9, 1947. Clarence and Viola had a wonderful marriage of almost 65 years. Their love for each other was very special and one of a kind. They went everywhere jointly and enjoyed all of life's special moments together. When you saw Viola, Clarence was right by his sweetheart’s side. He passed away on September 28, 2012.
She was a 1947 graduate of Stephen Decatur High. Viola enjoyed fishing and camping. Clarence and Viola also enjoyed auctions, rummage sales, and country music concerts. She mainly enjoyed spending time with her family.
Viola is survived by her four daughters: Karen (Steve) Thrall of Maroa, IL; Sally Brennan of Decatur, IL; Valerie (Chuck) Jenkins of Loraine, IL; and Becky (Alan) Graff of Loraine, IL; grandchildren: Angie Patch, Lisa (Troy) Hancock, Wendy (Steve) Fraysure, Leslie (Nic) Brennan, Joe (Beth) Brennan, Thera (Eric) Green, Ashley (Matt) Shriver, Molly (David) Graff, and Jon Graff; thirty six great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law Chuck and Judy Runyen of Oreana, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great great-granddaughter Keeley Quick, and son-in-law Jerry Brennan.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
