Violet Thelma McArthur's Obituary
Decatur-Violet Thelma McArthur, 86, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Fair Havens Christian Home in Decatur with her family by her side.
Services to celebrate Violet’s life will be10:30am Monday, November 3, 2014 in the Community of Christ Church, 5655 Union School Rd, Decatur, IL 62522. Visitation will be 9-10:30am at the church. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Community of Christ Church.
Violet was born July 2, 1928 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada the daughter of Charles Henry and Edna (Clark) Call. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She married Bernard Clifford McArthur May 28, 1949 in Toronto. He preceded her in death April 1, 1995. They shared over forty-six years together.Vi volunteered at the YWCA helping disabled children with swimming. She also made doll clothes for children at Christmas, and was involved with the PTA, election judge for many years, and a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed crafts, gardening, and her pets.
Violet leaves behind her daughter Luray Jean McArthur of Decatur, sons John David McArthur and wife LaDonna of Shelbyville and Alan Eric McArthur and wife Lisa of Decatur, sister Verna Russell of Minden, Ontario, Canada, and grandchildren Sam McArthur of Decatur, and Dillon Frutiger of Clay City and his wife Amanda, great grandson Chance D. Frutiger of Clay City, IL.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and two sisters.
