Virgil Raymond Woodard's Obituary
Virgil Raymond Woodard, 85, of Bement, IL died Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.
Virgil was born August 9, 1932 in Newton, IL, the son of Eldon V. and Clara Adeline (Engelmann) Woodard.
Virgil was a veteran of the US Navy for 2 ½ years. He served in the Ceremonial Guard. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Bement.
Virgil worked 18 years at Burroughs, Inc. and 20 years at Iroquois Federal Savings and Loan.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Karen (Odell) Woodard of Bement; his children Mark (Michelle) of Geneva, Marcia (Dominic) Imburgia of Effingham, Jeffrey (Tammy) of Mackinaw, Stephen (Lori) of Downs and Michael of Bement; siblings, Carolyn Ruff, Jeane Marsh, Teresa Woodard, Tim Woodard; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Glenn; sister, Wanda and one great grandchild, Hagen.
A funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, May 24, 2018 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Bement, IL. Prayer service will be held 5:00 PM Wednesday, May 23, 2018 with visitation to follow until 8 PM at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be at Keller Cemetery in Lovington, IL.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Bement or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
