Decatur-Virginia Mae Zeck, 86, of Decatur, passed away at 11:16 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services to celebrate Virginia’s life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010 in the chapel of Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services. Interment with “Flight Home” Ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association. Virginia was born January 27, 1923 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Alvin and Helen (Zimmerly) Dresser. She was a 1944 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. She was a registered nurse. She was the first staff nurse at the Macon County Jail. She worked at Decatur Memorial Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital, and Dwight Veterans Hospital. She loved her dogs, enjoyed traveling, camping, and playing the piano, and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pitt Panthers. She married Walter Zeck November 7, 1946 in Dewitt, Illinois. He preceded her in death August 10, 1990.
She leaves behind her son; Paul Zeck and wife Patti of Decatur, daughter; Shirley Jean Berriman and husband Ronald of Decatur and Lois Ann Moore and husband Danny of Rogersville, Tennessee, brother; Jack Dresser of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, seven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was reunited in heaven with her parents and husband.
