Vivian Grimes' Obituary
Vivian A. Grimes, 91, of Oakley, passed away April 25, 2019 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Vivian was born December 14, 1927 in Barnett, IL, the daughter of Harry David and Girlie Mae (Spoon) Stockstill. She married George Grimes on June 5, 1949 in Litchfield.
Surviving are her husband, George; four children, Wayne Grimes of Etoile, Texas; Harold (Arlene) Grimes of Lufkin, Texas; Steven Grimes of Oakley; and Margaret (Mike) Wingard of Decatur; four grandchildren, Harold Grimes, Jr., Siegel Grimes, Ryan Paslay, and Andrew Wingard; seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Cecil Stockstill and Harold Stockstill; and a granddaughter, Tracy Dailey.
Vivian worked for Hardees Restaurants for 35 years. She enjoyed watching Illinois Fighting Illini Basketball. She loved spending time with her family and camping at Vandalia Lake. She was known to make the best potato salad around. She will always be remembered for her kind heart.
A funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will take place two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Ritchie Cemetery in Oakley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to DMH Hospice, 2875 North Water Street, Decatur, IL. 62526. The family requests casual attire during services.
