Wallace Sherman Brockley's Obituary
Decatur-Wallace Sherman Brockley, 86 of Decatur, passed away 12:56 pm Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services to celebrate Wallace's life will be 10:30 am Friday, September 10, 2010 at graveside in Graceland Cemetery with Pastor Miley Palmer officiating. Services will conclude with the “Flight Home” ceremony. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting his family with arrangements. Wallace was born February 10, 1924 in Roseburg, Oregon the son of Robert and Mabel (Saunders) Brockley. He attended Oregon State University and was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity. He was a pilot in the Army Air Corp in World War II, serving in Japan and Guam. He married Beverly Busher on June 9, 1945 in Tampa, Florida. Wallace was an owner and president of Emerson Piano House, Inc., with a store in both Decatur and Champaign until closing in 1980. He retired from Tallman Pontiac Cadillac in 1989. Wallace was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Country Club of Decatur.
Surviving are his sons Robert (wife Angie) Brockley of Northbrook, Illinois and Mark (wife Annesse) Brockley of Spearfish, South Dakota; three grandchildren Leslie Brockley of Northbrook, IL; Kristin (Brian) Urdiales of Fort Morgan, CO; and Ryan Brockley of Spearfish, SD; and two great-grandchildren Keenan and Ella Urdiales also of Fort Morgan, CO.
Wallace was preceded in death by his wife Beverly and his parents.
