Wallace W. Whipple's Obituary
Decatur – Wallace W. Whipple, 91, of Decatur, passed away at 1:40 pm Monday, November 30, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Graveside services to celebrate Wallace’s life will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Graceland Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard and the “Flight Home” Ceremony to conclude the service. Wallace was born October 6, 1918 in Montello, Nevada the son of Frederick N. and Lillian V. (Catlin) Whipple. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during W.W. II. He worked on the Union Pacific Railroad before moving to Decatur. He was the owner/operator of Midas Muffler in Decatur. He attended Life Foursquare Church. He married Della K. Huston August 29, 1941 in Elko, Nevada.
He leaves behind Della, his loving wife of over sixty-eight years, daughter; Linda Duncan and husband Bud of Mt. Zion, sons; Gary Whipple and wife Bev of Decatur and Kelly Whipple of Decatur, beloved grandchildren; Tami McMillin, Wendi Marcum, Danny Whipple, Stacey Watts, Rob Duncan, Stephen Whipple, Justin Whipple, Serena Whipple, and Kalena Whipple, and twenty great-grandchildren.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents, Aunt Julia Whipple who raised him, sister Althea, and brother; Jack Whipple.
Wallace was a wonderful, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is so loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
The family sends their deepest thanks to Dr. Ben Esparaz, Dr. Brian Telle, and Dr. Kris Patel for their long years of caring for him. The family would also like to thank St. John’s Hospice for their love and support.
