Warren Edward Hamilton Sr.'s Obituary
Warren Edward Hamilton, Sr., 91, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away September 7, 2025, in his home, surrounded by his family.
Warren was born in Athens, Illinois, on May 8, 1934, the son of George and Annabelle (Vandlandingham) Hamilton. He married Clara “Sue” Woodrum on June 19, 1957, in Springfield, Illinois. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran.
Warren was a painter for J.J. Swartz for many years and then for Eichel Painting, from where he retired. He was a faithful member of Second Church of God, where he served as Deacon and Lifetime Elder. In his spare time, he enjoyed racing, bowling, fishing, and coaching Little League. He was devoted to his family and loved spending time with them. He will be long remembered for his warm, welcoming personality. He never knew a stranger.
Warren is survived by his wife Sue; children Debra (Stan) Stivers of Shelbyville, Warren E (Kelly) Hamilton Jr. of Macon, Sheila (Tony) Madden of Decatur, Anna Bright of Findlay, and Richard (Renee) Hamilton of Oakley; grandchildren Tiffany (Filmer) Tolentino, Randy Spaugh Jr., Eric (Linze) Hamilton, Samantha Hamilton, Tony Greitman, Jason Babb, Ashley Babb, Brittany Babb, Melissa (Jeremy) Nichols, C. J. Crawley, Katie (Isaiah) Williams, and Kyndall Hamilton; 20 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, 15 siblings, and sons-in-law Todd Bright and Clifford Crawley.
Visitation for Warren will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, September 12, at Second Church of God in Decatur. Funeral service will be at 10am on Saturday, September 13, also at the church. Entombment at Macon County Memorial Park will follow the service. Memorials may be directed to Second Church of God. Condolences may be shared with the family at https://www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
