Wilbert "Willie" Neal Ward's Obituary
Wilbert “Willie” Neal Ward, 78, of Decatur passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Wilbert was born on March 27, 1935 in Decatur, IL the son of Luther and Corolinezoe Ward. A Navy veteran of the Korean War and member of the Macon County Historical Society Wilbert retired in 2005 from the Macon County Jail where he worked as a Sergeant. He married Linna Myers February 2, 1954 in Charleston, SC, and she preceded him in death on April 13, 2010. Also preceding him in death were his parents and son Stephen.
Surviving are his daughters: Kathy (Tice) Sharp and Melanie (Gary) Nihiser all of Decatur; sister, Dorma Oldfield of Decatur, and brother, Ronnie (Joanne) Ward of Decatur. Grandchildren: Maggie, Tony, Mandy, and Katie; great grandchildren: Brandon, Kale, Kateland, and Brody; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service to celebrate his life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home; visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.
