Wilbur "Buzz" Allen's Obituary
Decatur-Wilbur 'Buzz' Allen, 63 of Decatur, passed away 5:45 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Mattoon Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, with his family by his side.
Services to celebrate Buzz's life will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the funeral home. Interment with military rites and concluding with the 'Flight Home' ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to American Cancer Society. Buzz was born February 3, 1947 in Decatur, the son of Herschel and Helen (Hunnicut) Allen. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was retired from Caterpillar where he was employed as a welder for twenty-five years. He was a member of the APA.
He leaves behind his daughter; Stacey Wierman and husband Justin of Champaign, son Bobby Wadkins of Chicago, grandchildren; Bailee and Brooklyn, brother; Bill Allen and wife Betty of Decatur, sisters; Katherine Marler of Decatur, Eva George of Decatur, and Pauline Ackles of Decatur, and close friend Sharon Wadkins of Mahomet.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
