William Baney's Obituary
William Baney, 85, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
William was born on November 16, 1930 in Decatur, IL, the son of Delbert L. and Catherine (Kendall) Baney. After graduating from high school, William later proudly served his county in the United States Air Force during 1955-1958 as an 1st Airman. William worked for Muellers as a general foreman for thirty nine years, and later retired. He was a member of the New Day Community Church, Moose Lodge of Decatur, American Legion, Shriners, and a former member of the Decatur Boat Club. He enjoyed boating and spending time with his family. He married Fern Ray on July 2, 1960 in Centralia, IL. She preceded him in death on February 2, 2011.
William is survived by his sons, John (Bev) Baney of Estes Park, CO, Allen Young (Charlotte Miller) of Forsyth, Ronald (Gwynne) Young of Mt. Zion; daughter, Judy Yaegel of Decatur; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and a host of extended family members.
William is preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers, sister, and one great-granddaughter.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. William Franklin and Dr. Thomas Tarter and for all their compassionate care and support they provided to William.
Private family services will be held at the Star of Hope Mausoleum. Entombment will be in Star of Hope Mausoleum. Memorials may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association. Military honors will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.
