Oakley – William Hughes “Bill” Bowrey Jr, 82, of Oakley, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025.
Bill was born on May 9, 1943, in Decatur, IL the son of William Hughes and Faye (Williams) Bowrey Sr. An Army veteran, Bill worked as a tire builder and forklift operator for Firestone before retiring. Bill married June Chandler on November 7, 1994.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bradley Bowrey.
Bill is survived by his wife June of Oakley; children: John David (Gail) Fry of Oakley, Pam (Donald) Billingsley of Quincy, Becky (Shannon) Boehl of Lesotho Africa, and Elizabeth (Darrell) Gibbs of Weldon; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren; siblings: Sharon Michaels of MO, and Michael Bowrey of Decatur; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A private family service will be held. Burial will take place at a later date.
