William E. Brown's Obituary
Argenta-William E. Brown, 80, of rural Argenta, passed away at 11:25 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2009 in Fair Havens Christian Home with his family by his side.
Services to Celebrate Bill’s life will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor George Adam and Pastor B.C. Hwang officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. Interment with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will be in Bethel Cemetery, Blue Mound. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital. Online condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
Bill was born October 18, 1928 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of William and Opal (Landers) Brown. He proudly served his country in the USMC during the Korean War. He was a sheet metal operator for Mississippi Valley Structural Steel and De Co Manufacturing. He was a member of the Shriners, Argenta Masonic Lodge where he served as past Master, Bloomington Scottish Rite, American Legion of Argenta, Decatur Moose and Elks Lodge, the Eastern Star in Argenta, and the Decatur D.A.V. He married Darlene Willis March 29, 1969 in Decatur. She preceded him in death on August 23, 2007.
He leaves behind sons; David Brown and wife Mina of Stonington and Billy Brown of Gloucester, Virginia, daughter; Terry Holmgren and husband John of Blue Mound, grandchildren; Jodi True and husband Kelly of Blue Mound, Johnny Holmgren and wife Liz of Blue Mound, Sam Brown of Gloucester, Virginia, Elijah Brown of Gloucester Virginia, and Michael Brown of Stonington, great-grandchildren; Andrew Holmgren, Nathan True, Karringen True, Skylee Brown, and Thaddeus Brown, brother-in-laws; Bill Willis of Guntersville, Alabama and Charlie Willis and wife Linda of Decatur, and sister-in-law Geraldine Dash of Decatur.
He was greeted in heaven by his parents, wife, and brother Ornal Brown.
