William D. "Bill" Butcher's Obituary
Mount Auburn - William D. “Bill” Butcher, passed away at 8:10 am Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Villa Health Care East, Sherman, with his family by his side.
Masonic services will be held at 10:45 AM to celebrate Bill’s life on Saturday January 27, 2024, in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9am until the service time. Private family interment will be in Mount Auburn Cemetery following services. Memorials are suggested to Kedron Masonic Lodge #340 Scholarship Fund. Bill was born on May 22, 1935, in Taylorville, IL, a son of Leroy and Ilah (White) Butcher. He was a farmer his whole life. Bill also served Mount Auburn as President of the First National Bank for many years. He was a member of the Mount Auburn United Christian Church and the Kedron Masonic Lodge #340. Bill married Mary Sue Whaley on January 1, 1957. They resided in Mt. Auburn for their 64 years of their marriage.
Bill led a full life, filled with family, friends and food. Some of his happiest moments were spent with his family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was happy riding around in his van with his loyal black lab companions.
Bill is survived by his daughter- Susan (Mark) Zawodniak of Morehead City, N.C. and son- Tim (Janet) Butcher of Mount Auburn, grandchildren- Jessica Dunphy, Jaime (Jon) Haener, Jacob (Becci) Butcher, Alayna (Matt) Gleason, Jason (Melanie) Dunphy, and eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Sue on June 5, 2021, father and mother-in-law- George W. and Virgie (Milligan) Whaley, nephew Gary Allen, and brother and sister-in-law Robert and Lois Butcher.
