William Allen Cobb's Obituary
Decatur-William Allen Cobb, 94, a life-long resident of Decatur, passed from time to eternity on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 in Fair Havens Christian Home with his beloved wife and family by his side.
Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2010 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Decatur, with Father Jeff Grant, Celebrant. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the mass at the church. Interment with full military rites by the Macon County Honor Guard will be at Fairlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick School or the American Cancer Society. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with these arrangements. Mr. Cobb was born in St. Mary’s Hospital on December 8, 1915, the son of Cyril Malcolm and Adah (Flynn) Cobb. He was a descendent of the Baker, Dennis and Cobb families who were early settlers of Decatur and Macon County. He graduated from Decatur High School, and Brown’s Business College, served in the Air Force during WW II where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He married Virginia Van Deventer on May 28, 1939 in St. Patrick Catholic Church.
A lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, William was a proud member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club and a twenty eight year employee of Citizens National Bank.
He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved schnauzers.
Surviving are his bride of seventy years, Virginia (Van Deventer), daughter, Susan Edwards-Bell (Brian) of Decatur, grandchildren, Ashley Edwards of Ward, CO., Layla Edwards of Decatur, two great grandchildren: Zalen Edwards of Ward, CO. and Zavery Edwards of Decatur.

William was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be missed by all he touched.
