William George Ewald's Obituary
Decatur – William George Ewald, 88, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018, in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
William was born October 7, 1930 in Douglas County near Arcola the son of William Robert and Christine Isabelle (Karcher) Ewald. A U.S. Army veteran, William worked as an operating engineer at Bodine Services. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post #105 and Moose Club. He married Norma Roderick on September 21, 1957, and she preceded him in death on October 15, 1996.
William is survived by his son, Robert Ewald of Decatur and step-son, Roger Thompson of AZ; grandchildren: Robyn Ewald and Amber Ewald of Decatur; great grandchildren: Riahna, Brooklynn and Amelijah; sisters: Helena Mae Hadley of Decatur and Jean Muller of Chesapeake Beach, MD; special friend, Helen Trueblood of Decatur; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
William was preceded in death by his parents; wife; step-son Monte; brothers: Bert, Michael and Charles and sisters: Rita, Rosalie and Mary.
Visitation will be 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm Monday, November 12, 2018 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2 pm, Monday, November 12, 2018 in Graceland Cemetery.
